Royal Canadian Air Force Aircraft over Toronto, August 31 and September 1
Aircraft from the current RCAF fleet and Second World War-era aircraft from Vintage Wings of Canada and the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum will conduct a “parade in the sky” to coincide with the ceremony on September 1, demonstrating past and present air force capabilities and professionalism to Canadians. A rehearsal for the flypast will take place on August 31. Before sunset on Thursday, a CC-130 Hercules is set to fly over Lake Ontario, 2000 feet from the waterfront, as the CN Tower is lit in blue to mark RCAF Day in Toronto on September 1.
When: Thursday, August 31, 2:20 p.m.-2:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m.-8 p.m.
Friday, September 1, 1:10 p.m.-1:15 p.m. and 2 p.m.-2:15 p.m.
*Note: All timings are approximate.
Where: Overhead, Nathan Phillips Square, east to west along Queen Street.
The Thursday evening flypast of the Toronto waterfront will take place 2000 feet offshore.
Aircraft participation in the flypast is subject to weather and operations. Flypasts by RCAF aircraft are carefully planned and closely controlled to ensure public safety at all times.
Aircraft will fly no lower than 500 feet above the highest point along their route before flying to higher elevations for their return flights back to their respective bases and staging airports. Care is being taken to reduce the impact of noise through route planning and higher flypast elevations
for the rehearsal.
